Most Runs in ICC Champions Trophy History 1998 to 2017
Cricket has always been a batter’s game and over time many great batters have graced the game and taken it to new heights. In ICC CT history natters have played a significant role in winning the titles as 5 times out of the 8 editions Batters have won the Players of the Tournament award. Below is the list of batters with Most Runs in ICC Champions Trophy History.
ICC Champions Trophy Top Runs Scorer
Like the best bowlers of the ICC Champions Trophy, Sri Lankan batters also dominated the list of players with the Most Runs in ICC Champions Trophy History but this time they are sharing it with India like they shared the title with them in 2002.
Three batters each from Sri Lanka and India feature in the list of Top 10 scorers of ICC Champions Trophy but the list is headed by West Indian batting supremo Chris Gayle who scored 791 runs in 17 CT games. Former Sri Lankan captain and batter Mahela Jayawardene holds the 2nd spot with 742 runs in 22 games followed by Shikhar Dhawan of India who accumulated 701 runs in just 10 games to seal the 3rd spot.
Most Runs in ICC Champions Trophy History
A couple of West Indians including Gayle and 1 each batter from South Africa and Australia featured in the list of top 10 runs scorer in the history of the Champions Trophy. Interestingly no batters from former champions England, Pakistan, and New Zealand featuring in the list of most successful batters in Champions Trophy history
