Ngidi, Nortje returns as Bavuma Led South Africa Champions Trophy Squad announced

South Africa Champions Trophy Squad for 2025 edition bolstered by return of pace duo Lungi Ngidi and Anrich Nortje who both sat out for major part of South African summer due to injuries. South Africa the finalist of last T20 world Cup and current ICC World Test Championship was the winner of inaugural ICC Champions Trophy event in 1998.

Since than global events elude South Africa and Protease are yet to win any ICC global event. South African squad for ICC Champions Trophy will be led by Temba Bavuma who led the side in 2023 ICC Menโ€™s ODI world cup to semi-finals and have retained 10 players featured in ODI World Cup.

South Africa batting unit is pretty settled with likes of Klaasen, Markram, Miller and Van der Dussen with captain Bavuma. Rabada is the most experience of the lot with 162 wickets in 102 games, Ngidi also closing in on 100 ODI wickets and will be needing 4 scalps to becomes 13th South African bowler to cross the mark. South Africa placed in group B along with past winners Australia, England and Afghanistan and will play their first game of the event against Afghanistan on 21st Feb as per their schedule.
