South Africa’s Injury woes widen as David Miller joins the list

South African preparation for Champions Trophy 2025 event dent with another blow as experienced middle order batter David Miller join the list of injured players list before the start of the event.

David Miller 35, is an explosive middle order batter is a limited overs specialist and only plays ODI’s and T20I’s for South Africa. Miller sustained an injury while fielding in SA20 league where he is captaining the Paarl Royals.

Miller a gun fielder failed to stop a drive from Marcus Stoinis at covers and went off the field afterwards. He becomes the second South African player since announcement of South Africa CT squad few weeks ago.

Although some doubts are creeping in for his fitness as Champions Trophy is just 20 odd days away and schedule start from 19th February. Miller represented his side at international level on 175 ODI’s and have scored 4490 runs at an average of 41 but more importantly he maintained strike rate of 102 runs per 100 balls over this long period of time.

South Africa already lost the services of Fats bowler Anrich Nortje who is out of CT due to back injury, his replacement Gerald Coetzee already ruled out of SA20 league whereas fast bowler Lungi Ngidi also warming the bench in SA20 league and not featuring in playing 11.

Miller is third high profile player after Nortje and Saim Ayub of Pakistan to have picked up an injury before the start of mega event.
